Above- The Australian Bank of Commerce (later ES&A) aka Joint Stock Bank.

Above- looking south up a busy George Street, about 1890.
Above- the same view today. Amazingly, the intersection is still recognizable, as the former Darrell Lea building (on left) and the current Louis Vuitton retail building (on right). Extended and altered.
 
Above- The two white marble statues on the front of this building were bought by the Shopping Centre developer Saunders. One was placed at Eastgardens Shopping Centre and one was placed at Tuggerah Supa Centa.

Site- new Apple Store building. The Australian Bank of Commerce (later ES&A) built 1884. torn down early 1970. replaced with slab. The former Wales Bank (below) cnr george & King Streets. Built 1973 72m/17st. This was reborn with a new facade in 2009 as the new Apple Store building.
